Bird lovers, families, and nature explorers — get ready! Bird Watch 2026 (officially the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch) is flying in from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th January 2026. This is your chance to take part in the world’s largest garden wildlife survey and help scientists understand how our feathered friends are faring across the UK.
Whether you’re in a garden, on a balcony, or in your local park, all you need to do is pick one hour during that weekend to watch and count the birds you see — then report your sightings to the RSPB. It’s free, fantastic fun for all ages, and every count (even if you see nothing!) helps build a picture of bird populations nationwide.

🐥 What You Can Do
Bird Watch 2026 is simple — and everyone can take part:
-
Choose your spot: your garden, balcony, window, or nearby park
-
Watch for 1 hour: note the number and type of birds that land in your space
-
Submit your results: add your sightings online at the RSPB site
-
See the big picture: your data becomes part of a national snapshot of bird life in the UK
Even if you see only a few birds, your contribution matters — it helps conservationists understand what’s happening to bird populations and how we can help protect them.
